Bakkagerðiskirkja wurde 1901 geweiht und beherbergt eines der interessantesten Kunstwerke der Region. Jóhannes S. Kjarval, der in Borgarfjörður Eystri aufwuchs, malte 1914 das Altarbild. Es zeigt Christus bei der Bergpredigt von Álfaborg aus, im Hintergrund Dyrfjöll.
