1. Visit Hallgrímskirkja
No trip to Reykjavík is complete without visiting Hallgrímskirkja, Iceland’s most famous church.
Standing over 74 metres tall, it’s visible from almost anywhere in the city.
For a small fee, you can take the lift to the top for spectacular panoramic views across Reykjavík.
2. Walk Along Rainbow Street
Just outside Hallgrímskirkja is Skólavörðustígur, better known as Rainbow Street.
Filled with colourful buildings, cafés, restaurants and boutique shops, it’s one of Reykjavík’s most photographed streets.
If you’re visiting during Reykjavík Pride, this area becomes the heart of the celebrations.
3. See the Sun Voyager
Located on Reykjavík’s waterfront, the Sun Voyager (Sólfar) is one of Iceland’s most recognisable sculptures.
It’s especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset, with Mount Esja in the background.
4. Explore Harpa Concert Hall
Even if you’re not attending a performance, Harpa is well worth visiting.
Its stunning glass façade reflects the changing Icelandic light throughout the day and has become one of Reykjavík’s architectural icons.
5. Relax at Sky Lagoon
Just a few minutes from the city centre, Sky Lagoon offers one of Iceland’s most luxurious geothermal spa experiences.
The infinity-edge pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is unforgettable.
6. Wander Around the Old Harbour
Reykjavík’s Old Harbour is home to:
