Grjótagjá

Kleine Lavahöhle mit beeindruckendem Geothermalwasser in der Nähe des Mývatn-Sees, die einst zum Baden genutzt wurde, heute aber nur noch zur Besichtigung dient.

About Grjótagjá

Grjótagjá wurde früher als Thermalbad genutzt. Geologische Aktivitäten zwischen 1975 und 1984 führten zu einem erheblichen Anstieg der Wassertemperatur, weshalb die Höhle nicht mehr zum Baden genutzt wird. Besucher kommen stattdessen, um das klare Thermalwasser in der Lavaspalte zu bestaunen.
