About Seyðisfjarðarkirkja

Die Seyðisfjarðarkirkja blickt auf eine ungewöhnlich ereignisreiche Geschichte zurück. Ursprünglich stand die Kirche in Dvergasteinn, wurde 1882 nach Vestdalseyri verlegt, 1894 durch einen Sturm beschädigt und 1920 an ihren heutigen Standort versetzt. Ein Brand während Renovierungsarbeiten im Jahr 1989 verursachte weitere Schäden. Heute zählt ihre hellblaue Fassade zu den meistfotografierten Motiven Ostislands.
