Arnarfjörður
One of the great fjords of the Westfjords, surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls, isolated valleys and some of the region’s most dramatic scenery.
About Arnarfjörður
Arnarfjörður stretches deep into the central Westfjords and contains an extraordinary concentration of natural and cultural attractions. Dynjandi lies at its northern end, while Bíldudalur, Ketildalir, Selárdalur and several remote side fjords make the wider area worth exploring slowly.
Our practical tips
✓Do not treat Arnarfjörður as something to rush through between attractions.
✓Allow time for the smaller fjords, valleys and viewpoints as well as Dynjandi.
✓Services become limited away from Bíldudalur and the main routes.
