Flögufoss
Highest waterfall in Breiðdalur, dropping around 60 metres beneath a smaller cascade that passes through a natural stone arch.
About Flögufoss
Flögufoss drops approximately 60 metres from Flöguá and is the highest waterfall in Breiðdalur. Immediately above it, another smaller waterfall lands on a rock shelf before the river passes beneath a small natural stone arch, giving the site an especially unusual appearance.
Our practical tips
✓Look carefully above the main waterfall for the smaller cascade and natural stone arch.
✓Combine Flögufoss with Beljandi on the same Breiðdalur outing.
✓The walk is short enough to make this worthwhile even on a Ring Road travel day.
