About Hesteyri
Hesteyri was once a permanent settlement but was abandoned during the twentieth century. Today its surviving buildings and surrounding landscape provide an atmospheric introduction to Hornstrandir and a starting point for several wilderness hiking routes.

Getting there and visiting
Access
No road access. Hesteyri is normally reached by boat and onward travel is on foot.
