About Hornstrandir Nature Reserve
Hornstrandir Nature Reserve occupies the remote northern tip of the Westfjords. There are no public roads through the reserve and most visitors arrive by boat before exploring on foot. The landscape includes abandoned settlements, dramatic fjords, enormous bird cliffs and some of Iceland’s best opportunities to encounter Arctic foxes in their natural habitat.

Getting there and visiting
Access
There is no public road network in Hornstrandir. Most visitors arrive by boat, commonly from Ísafjörður or other Westfjords departure points, before continuing on foot. Boat services and practical access are seasonal and weather dependent.
