About Neskaupstaður Nature Reserve
Protected in 1972, Neskaupstaður Nature Reserve was Iceland’s first formally designated nature reserve. It stretches from the edge of town towards the open ocean and protects diverse vegetation, birdlife, coastal geology, caves and dramatic sea cliffs.

✓Continue at least as far as Páskahellir if conditions allow.
✓Look across the fjord towards the colourful Rauðubjörg cliffs.
✓The reserve combines geology, wildlife and views in one relatively short walk.
