Sauðárkrókur stands on the southwest shore of Skagafjörður and provides shops, restaurants, accommodation and other services. Attractions include 1238: The Battle of Iceland, local museums and Borgarsandur Beach, while boat trips towards Drangey operate from the area during the main season.
