About Álfaborg
Álfaborg is one of the landmarks of Borgarfjörður Eystri and occupies a major place in local folklore. Tradition says the queen of Iceland’s elves lives within the hill. Álfaborg was declared a nature reserve in 1976, and an easy path leads to an observation platform overlooking the village, fjord and surrounding mountains.
