Arctic Henge
Monumental stone artwork above Raufarhöfn inspired by Norse mythology, astronomy and the changing Arctic light.
About Arctic Henge
The Arctic Henge combines modern monumental art with ideas drawn from Norse mythology and the names of dwarfs in Völuspá. Its gateways and stone structures are aligned with the movement of the sun and the dramatic seasonal light of northern Iceland.
Our practical tips
✓The site is particularly atmospheric around sunset, sunrise or the midnight sun.
✓Do not expect a finished monument — construction is still ongoing.
✓Walk around it rather than photographing only from the parking area.
