WHY VISIT

About Gljúfursárfoss

Gljúfursárfoss falls approximately 45 metres into a colourful gorge on the southern side of Vopnafjörður. The river was historically a serious obstacle for travellers crossing towards Hellisheiði eystri, and a marked trail also follows the river towards an old bridge and Drangsnes.
