About Hafrahvammagljúfur
Hafrahvammagljúfur is one of Iceland’s largest and most dramatic canyons. Together with the darker Dimmugljúfur section, the gorge extends for several kilometres below Kárahnjúkar and reaches remarkable depths. The diversion of Jökulsá á Dal dramatically reduced the normal river flow through the canyon, exposing more of its immense rock walls.
