WHY VISIT

About Heydalir

Heydalir has been a vicarage since the early Christian period in Iceland and appears in historic sources under both Heydalir and Eydalir. Among its best-known clergymen was seventeenth-century hymn poet Einar Sigurðsson. The present church was consecrated in 1975 after replacing an older nineteenth-century church.
