About Ingólfur Arnarson Monument
According to Icelandic settlement tradition, Ingólfur Arnarson established his farm in the Reykjavík area around AD 874 after his high-seat pillars were said to have washed ashore here. Einar Jónsson’s monument to Ingólfur stands prominently on Arnarhóll overlooking the city centre and harbour.
