Karlinn
Towering offshore volcanic sea stack known as “The Man”, battered continuously by Atlantic waves below Valahnúkur.
About Karlinn
Karlinn is an isolated volcanic plug standing approximately 50–60 metres high just offshore from Valahnúkur. Erosion has removed the surrounding softer rock, leaving the resistant volcanic core exposed to some of Iceland’s most powerful coastal weather.
Our practical tips
✓You view Karlinn from the Valahnúkur area — there is no separate access to the stack.
✓Longer camera lenses work well here when waves are crashing around the rock.
✓Include it in the same visit as Valahnúkur rather than driving here separately.
