Perlan – Wonders of Iceland
Major interactive natural-history attraction combining an indoor ice cave, volcano experiences, northern-lights planetarium and panoramic Reykjavík observation deck.
About Perlan – Wonders of Iceland
Perlan occupies six huge former geothermal-water tanks beneath a glass dome on Öskjuhlíð. Wonders of Iceland combines immersive exhibitions about glaciers, volcanoes, earthquakes, wildlife, oceans and geothermal activity. Highlights include a 100-metre artificial ice cave created with approximately 350 tonnes of snow, the 8K Áróra northern-lights planetarium show, an indoor geyser and a 360-degree outdoor observation deck.
Our practical tips
✓Allow at least two hours — there is much more here than the observation deck.
✓The ice cave remains below freezing, so use the supplied warm clothing if needed.
✓Do the observation deck when visibility is clear even if you explore the museum in poor weather.
✓The Áróra planetarium is useful for visitors who want to understand the northern lights before trying to see them outdoors.
