About Reyðarfjörður
Reyðarfjörður is more than 30 km long and is the longest of the Eastfjords. During the Second World War, Allied forces established a major base here because of the fjord’s strategic harbour, dramatically changing life in the small Icelandic community. Today the town combines wartime heritage with hiking, waterfalls and mountain scenery.

Getting there and visiting
Access
Reyðarfjörður lies directly on Route 1 and is connected to Fáskrúðsfjörður by the Fáskrúðsfjarðargöng tunnel.
