About Skálanes
Skálanes occupies a restored farmhouse within a private nature reserve at the outer end of Seyðisfjörður. The landscape includes high sea cliffs, secluded coves, mountain scenery and important bird habitat. The centre has also been used for environmental research, education and cultural projects.

✓Check current access before setting out because Skálanes is much more remote than central Seyðisfjörður attractions.
✓Bring binoculars if wildlife and birdwatching are priorities.
✓The hike from Austdalur is an excellent way to reach the reserve.
