WHY VISIT

About Reykjavík Whale Watching

Reykjavík’s Old Harbour is the main departure point for whale-watching excursions into Faxaflói Bay. Sightings vary naturally, but commonly encountered species can include minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises. Several established operators offer traditional larger vessels and smaller fast boats from the harbour.

Take motion-sickness medication in advance if you are prone to seasickness.

Morning and afternoon trips can both be worthwhile; wildlife activity is not controlled by a timetable.
