About Tjörnin
Tjörnin forms one of Reykjavík’s most distinctive central landscapes. Urban development grew around its northern end from the eighteenth century, while today its shores connect City Hall, Hljómskálagarðurinn, Fríkirkjan and several museums and historic buildings. Swans, ducks and other birds are present throughout much of the year.
Our practical tips
✓Walk around at least part of the pond rather than viewing it only from City Hall.
✓The colourful buildings reflected in the water make this one of central Reykjavík’s best photo spots.
✓Enjoy the birds without feeding them bread or inappropriate food.
