About Brúnavík
Brúnavík is the first deserted inlet south of Borgarfjörður Eystri and one of the best-known day hikes in the Víknaslóðir network. The classic circuit crosses the 360-metre Brúnavíkurskarð pass, descends towards the ruins of the former farm and reaches the colourful beach. The return route crosses Brotagil and Hofstrandarskarð.

Getting there and visiting
Access
The standard hike begins from the parking area at Hafnarhólmi harbour.
Walking
Approx. 12 km circuit taking around 5–6 hours.
Visit notes
Reaching the beach may require wading or stepping across Víkurá near its mouth.
