WHY VISIT

About Djáknadys

According to tradition, the priest from Háls and deacon from Hamar met at this location and fought until both died. The mound became known as Djáknadys. Travellers historically added stones to avoid bad luck, although the monument is now protected and this old custom must no longer be followed.

FIRST-HAND ADVICE

Our practical tips

Ignore older advice telling visitors to add stones to the mound.
