Djúpivogur
Peaceful Cittaslow harbour town combining art, birdlife, historic buildings and extraordinary mountain scenery.
About Djúpivogur
Djúpivogur has a trading history stretching back to 1589 and today is Iceland’s only Cittaslow community. Rather than rushing through, visitors are encouraged to explore slowly: walk the harbour, visit Langabúð, see Eggin í Gleðivík, explore Búlandsnes and watch birds around its lagoons and mudflats while Búlandstindur dominates the skyline.
Our practical tips
✓Djúpivogur rewards walking rather than driving between every attraction.
✓Eggin í Gleðivík, Tankurinn and Æðarsteinsviti can easily be combined.
✓Give yourself time for Langabúð rather than treating the town as a fuel stop.
