About East Iceland Emigration Center
The East Iceland Emigration Center is housed in Kaupvangur in Vopnafjörður and explores the history of people who left East Iceland for Canada and the United States. Emigration accelerated during the late nineteenth century and forms an important part of the social history of the region.
