About Fjallkonustígur
Fjallkonustígur follows the old route through Vestdalur towards Vestdalsvatn. Historic cairns and road structures survive from the period when the valley was a major communication route. Near the lake is the small cave where human remains dating to around AD 940 were found with more than 400 beads and decorative pins.
