Long hiking route through the remote upper Fljótsdalur landscape linking a remarkable series of waterfalls.
About Waterfall Trail
The Waterfall Trail explores the valleys and plateaus around the upper reaches of Fljótsdalur and passes numerous waterfalls including several of the region’s lesser-known cascades. The approximately 20 km route offers a much quieter hiking experience than East Iceland’s headline attractions.
Our practical tips
✓Treat this as a full hiking day rather than trying to squeeze it between other attractions.
✓Carry all food and water needed for the route.
✓The trail is ideal for visitors who want waterfalls without the crowds found at better-known sites.
