About Lagarfljót & Lögurinn
Lagarfljót stretches for around 140 km from its glacial source towards Héraðsflói. Its broad lake section, Lögurinn, covers approximately 53 square kilometres and reaches around 112 metres at its deepest point. The lake is famous in Icelandic folklore as the home of Lagarfljótsormur, a mysterious serpent-like creature whose recorded sightings date back to at least 1345.

✓Drive the lake as a circuit rather than viewing it from only Egilsstaðir.
✓The route combines naturally with Hallormsstaðaskógur, Hengifoss, Skriðuklaustur and other Fljótsdalur attractions.

Roads run along both sides of the lake, allowing it to be explored as part of a scenic circuit.
