Múlahöfn
Dramatic natural harbour beneath Hellisheiði eystri surrounded by cliffs and sea stacks and once designated as a trading harbour.
About Múlahöfn
Múlahöfn is an extraordinary natural harbour beneath the cliffs east of Hellisheiði eystri. It was designated as an authorised trading harbour in 1890, although transporting goods inland proved so difficult that its commercial use was extremely limited. Today it forms part of the demanding hike towards Þerribjörg.
Our practical tips
✓Most visitors should experience Múlahöfn as part of the Þerribjörg hike.
✓This is a genuinely remote attraction rather than a casual roadside stop.
