Rainbow Street
Colourful rainbow-painted street leading directly towards the Blue Church and one of East Iceland’s most recognisable landmarks.
About Rainbow Street
Rainbow Street began as a community project in summer 2016 when local residents and town employees painted Norðurgata in rainbow colours. The colourful street quickly became one of Seyðisfjörður’s defining landmarks, with the pale-blue Seyðisfjarðarkirkja perfectly framed at its end.
Our practical tips
✓Walk the street rather than stopping a vehicle beside it for a photograph.
✓Early morning can be quieter if you want photographs without many people.
✓Combine it with the Blue Church because they are effectively beside one another.
