About Seyðisfjarðarkirkja
Seyðisfjarðarkirkja has had an unusually eventful history. The church originally stood at Dvergasteinn, was moved to Vestdalseyri in 1882, damaged by a storm in 1894 and later moved again to its present location in 1920. A fire during renovation in 1989 caused further damage. Today its pale-blue exterior forms one of East Iceland’s most photographed scenes.
