About Þvottá
Þvottá is one of the most significant early-Christian sites in East Iceland. Around the year 1000, Síðu-Hallur hosted missionary Þangbrandur here and was baptised with his household in the river. The surrounding area includes Þangbrandur’s Well, traces of an old cemetery and a monument commemorating Iceland’s adoption of Christianity.
