Wilderness Center of Iceland
Remote cultural and outdoor centre at the edge of the Highlands combining exhibitions, historic accommodation, food and wilderness activities.
About Wilderness Center of Iceland
The Wilderness Center sits at the end of Fljótsdalur where settled farmland gives way to the eastern Highlands. Its immersive exhibition explores the history of Highland travel, farming and wilderness life, while the restored buildings provide accommodation and food. The centre also operates hiking, horse-riding and other wilderness experiences.
Our practical tips
✓This is much more than a museum, so check the available activities before visiting.
✓It makes a natural final stop before continuing towards Laugarfell or other Highland destinations.
