About Vöðlavík
Vöðlavík is a secluded bay between mountains east of Eskifjörður. Farms once occupied the cove, but permanent settlement ended during the twentieth century. The bay is known for its wild black beach and for a dramatic rescue operation in 1994 after both the Bergvík SU and rescue vessel Goðinn ran aground there.

Getting there and visiting
Access
Road 954 to Vöðlavík is a rough seasonal route and is only considered suitable for four-wheel-drive vehicles when open.
